  4. Click Remove Background and download the transparent PNG.

Removing solid backgrounds

This tool removes pixels that match a specific color, replacing them with transparency. It works best on images with clean, uniform backgrounds like product photos on white, green screen footage, or logos on solid backgrounds.

The tolerance setting controls how different a pixel can be from the target color and still be removed. A low tolerance (10-20) only removes exact color matches. A higher tolerance (40-60) handles gradients, shadows, and slight color variations at the edges.

The result is always a PNG file, since PNG is the only common web format that supports full alpha transparency. JPEG does not support transparency at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of backgrounds can be removed?
This tool removes solid or near-solid color backgrounds (white, black, green screen, etc.). It does not use AI and cannot remove complex backgrounds like landscapes or rooms.
What is color tolerance?
Tolerance controls how similar a pixel must be to the target color to be removed. Low tolerance (10-20) removes only exact matches. High tolerance (50-80) removes a wider range of similar colors.
Will it work on photographs?
Only if the background is a uniform solid color (like a studio backdrop or green screen). For complex backgrounds in regular photos, you need an AI-powered background remover.
What output format is used?
Always PNG, since PNG supports transparency. JPEG does not support transparent backgrounds.
